Gemini Statistics (2026): Users, Growth, Usage, and Web-Traffic Share

Google’s latest public milestone puts the Gemini app above 1 billion monthly users as of August 11, 2026. That is the clearest answer if you need a current Gemini statistic for a deck or market brief.
It is not a total for everything called Gemini. Google separately reports Gemini app users, AI Overviews and AI Mode users in Search, developers using Google models, API token throughput, Cloud customers, and Gemini Enterprise adoption. This report keeps those populations separate so you can cite the right number for the question you are answering.
Key Gemini statistics
1 billion+ monthly users — Gemini app, August 11, 2026. Google said the app had surpassed 1 billion monthly users. The announcement’s title says “monthly active users,” while its body says “monthly users”; this report preserves that difference rather than treating the labels as identical. The figure is for the app, not a combined Google AI audience. Google’s Gemini app announcement
900 million+ monthly active users — Gemini app, May 19, 2026. Google reported this app milestone at I/O 2026. The same disclosure separately reported 2.5 billion+ monthly active users for AI Overviews and 1 billion+ monthly active users for AI Mode, both Google Search-feature populations rather than additional Gemini app users. Google I/O 2026 keynote
750 million+ monthly active users — Gemini app, Q4 2025 results announced February 4, 2026. Alphabet disclosed the figure in its results exhibit filed with the SEC. It is an earlier app milestone, not a population to add to the later 900 million or 1 billion figures. Alphabet’s Q4 2025 results exhibit
400 million+ monthly active users — Gemini app, May 21, 2025. Google disclosed this earlier app milestone in its I/O 2025 announcements. Google I/O 2025 announcements
63% of Gemini app users use voice — August 11, 2026. Google said 63% of users talk directly to Gemini using voice. This is a behavior share within the Gemini app population, not a share of all Google users. The same announcement reported 150 million+ images generated per day in the app. Google’s August 2026 app breakdown
50 billion+ images to date — Nano Banana models, May 19, 2026. Google’s figure is cumulative model output, not Gemini app daily image generation and not a user count. Google I/O 2026 keynote
8.5 million+ monthly developers and roughly 19 billion tokens per minute — Google models and model APIs, May 19, 2026. Google said more than 8.5 million developers were building apps and experiences with its models each month, while its model APIs processed roughly 19 billion tokens per minute. These are developer and infrastructure measures, not Gemini app active-user counts. Google I/O 2026 keynote
Nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies — Gemini Enterprise, Q2 2026. Alphabet said nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies were using Gemini Enterprise. That is a company-adoption share, not a count of employees, seats, or all enterprise customers. Alphabet Q2 2026 CEO remarks
Nearly 70 million total Agent Development Kit downloads — Q2 2026. Alphabet reported this cumulative download measure in the same Q2 remarks. Downloads are not active developers or enterprise customers. Alphabet Q2 2026 CEO remarks
Around 27–28% of worldwide generative-AI web traffic — Gemini, June 2025 to May 2026. Similarweb’s measurement panel shows Gemini’s share rising from under 9% over that period. The denominator is generative-AI website traffic, not all internet traffic, app monthly active users, or revenue. Similarweb’s 2026 AI Search data

Gemini app user growth timeline
The reported Gemini app milestones show rapid growth. They are successive snapshots of the same broad product area, so you should read them as a timeline rather than add them together.
Date / period | Reported figure | Population and definition | Evidence type |
May 21, 2025 | 400M+ | Gemini app monthly active users | Google disclosure |
Q4 2025 results, announced Feb. 4, 2026 | 750M+ | Gemini app monthly active users | Alphabet disclosure in SEC filing |
May 19, 2026 | 900M+ | Gemini app monthly active users | Google I/O disclosure |
Aug. 11, 2026 | 1B+ | Gemini app monthly users in the announcement body; monthly active users in its title | Google disclosure |
From May 2025 to August 2026, Google’s disclosed app milestone moved from more than 400 million to more than 1 billion. The labels are close but not perfectly uniform: the August announcement uses monthly users in body copy and monthly active users in its title. If your work depends on a consistent MAU definition, cite the original wording instead of converting every milestone into the same metric label.
Google has not published a single methodology note showing that every milestone uses an unchanged calculation. The safe statement is therefore that these are Google-reported Gemini app growth milestones, not a reconstructed time series with a calculated growth rate.
Gemini usage statistics
User scale and user behavior answer different questions. The user total tells you how many people Google says use the app monthly; behavior measures describe what those users do within it.
Voice use in the Gemini app
Google’s August 2026 app announcement says 63% of Gemini app users talk directly to Gemini using voice. That makes voice a significant interaction channel within the disclosed app population.
The same source says one in five Gemini Live interactions goes beyond voice through camera feeds or screen sharing. This is a Gemini Live interaction measure, not evidence that one in five all Gemini app sessions uses a camera or screen sharing. Google’s Gemini app announcement
Image-generation activity
Google reported that the Gemini app generates more than 150 million images per day as of August 11, 2026. This is a daily activity rate for the app.
Google also reported that Nano Banana models had generated more than 50 billion images to date at I/O 2026. That is cumulative output for a model family. It should not be divided by Gemini app users or compared directly with the daily app rate without data Google has not published. Google I/O 2026 keynote
Southeast Asia is a regional case, not a global split
Google’s July 2026 Southeast Asia report said active Gemini app users in the region had more than doubled over the prior year. It also said people in Southeast Asia generated 5 billion Nano Banana images over the past year. Both figures are regional and period-specific; neither supplies a global geographic distribution for Gemini users. Google’s 2026 Southeast Asia report
Gemini developer and API statistics
Google’s developer and infrastructure disclosures show a larger ecosystem around the Gemini app, but they cannot be used as another user total.
As of May 19, 2026, Google said more than 8.5 million developers were building new apps and experiences with Google models monthly. On the same date, it reported roughly 19 billion tokens per minute through model APIs. A token is a unit processed by a language model, so token throughput measures system usage rather than people, prompts, or applications.
Google also said that more than 375 Google Cloud customers had each processed more than 1 trillion tokens over the preceding 12 months. This is a count of customers that crossed a threshold, not a total token count that can be multiplied into a precise aggregate. Google I/O 2026 keynote
For broader infrastructure context, Google reported processing more than 3.2 quadrillion tokens per month across its surfaces in May 2026, compared with roughly 480 trillion a year earlier. “Across its surfaces” is broader than the Gemini app or direct customer APIs, so this number belongs in an infrastructure discussion rather than an app-usage claim.
Alphabet’s February 2026 Q4 results disclosure had earlier reported more than 10 billion tokens per minute through direct customer API use. The later roughly 19 billion figure is useful directional context, but it is not a verified percentage-growth calculation because the public labels and dates differ. Alphabet’s Q4 2025 results exhibit
Google Cloud separately says more than 6 trillion tokens are processed monthly on Gemini models through the Agent Development Kit (ADK). This is an ADK and Gemini-model processing measure, not an enterprise seat count or a replacement for Google’s all-model API throughput figure. Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform announcement
Gemini Enterprise statistics
Enterprise adoption figures need the same care as consumer figures. A Fortune 100 adoption share, paid-seat description, download total, and token threshold each describe a different population.
Alphabet said nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies were using Gemini Enterprise in Q2 2026. The statement establishes adoption among a defined company cohort, but it does not disclose how many people at each company use the product or how frequently they use it.
Google Cloud described Gemini Enterprise in April 2026 as having millions of paid seats across thousands of companies. This is intentionally broad language. It supports the existence of substantial paid deployment, but not a precise customer, seat, or revenue calculation. Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise announcement
Alphabet’s Q2 2026 remarks also reported nearly 70 million total ADK downloads. Treat that as a download measure. It should not be used to infer the number of active developers, paying companies, deployed agents, or Gemini Enterprise seats. Alphabet Q2 2026 CEO remarks
Gemini’s share of generative-AI web traffic
Independent traffic measurement provides a useful comparison layer, but it is different from Google’s first-party app-user disclosures.
Similarweb estimates that generative-AI platforms received an average of 9.5 billion monthly web visits worldwide between June 2025 and May 2026. Within that website-traffic category, Gemini’s share increased from under 9% to around 27–28%.
Over the same period, Similarweb puts ChatGPT’s share at a decline from roughly 76% to around 53%, while Claude rose from roughly 2% to close to 9%. These are panel-based web-traffic shares from the measurement owner, not app MAU, downloads, revenue, or a universal definition of AI market share. Similarweb’s 2026 AI Search data
What the public Gemini numbers do not measure
The largest data-integrity mistake in Gemini statistics is creating an all-up total from unlike disclosures. You should not add Gemini app monthly users to AI Overviews users, AI Mode users, developers, enterprise seats, Cloud customers, or token throughput. Those measures can overlap, and Google has not published a non-overlapping total across them.
The public disclosures used here also do not provide a verified global count of paid Gemini subscribers, Gemini-specific revenue, retention, a DAU-to-MAU ratio, a global user geography split, or an iOS-versus-Android user split. They also do not establish Gemini app crash rates, test coverage, or real-device performance.
No first-party Quash data covers Gemini usage or performance. The useful contribution here is therefore a measurement map: each figure is identified as an app, Search, developer, API, enterprise, or web-traffic measure instead of being presented as a single Gemini audience.
Methodology and source notes
This report uses three evidence types. Google and Alphabet disclosures support the app, Search, developer, API, and enterprise figures. Google Cloud disclosures support Gemini Enterprise and ADK-specific statements. Similarweb’s measurement-owner panel supplies the web-traffic comparison.
Google’s reported milestones are kept in chronological order rather than summed. Current company disclosures and third-party traffic estimates are also kept distinct: a first-party app-user milestone is not interchangeable with a panel-based share of generative-AI web visits.
Conclusion
For a concise, defensible citation, use the figure that matches your question: 1 billion+ monthly users for the Gemini app in August 2026, 2.5 billion+ monthly active users for AI Overviews, roughly 19 billion tokens per minute for Google model APIs, or around 27–28% for Gemini’s share of generative-AI web traffic. Keeping the population attached to the number is what makes the statistic useful.
