With a Jira-native product, test artifacts are modeled inside Jira. Xray’s Marketplace listing describes native Jira issue types and says the product does not synchronize or duplicate the data. Zephyr is also positioned by SmartBear as Jira-native test management.

With a standalone product, your test repository sits in a dedicated platform. Jira can still provide requirements, defects, and workflow context. PractiTest says it sits alongside Jira, while Tricentis documents qTest workflows that import Jira requirements and report defects back to Jira. Standalone does not mean “no Jira integration”; it means Jira is not necessarily the test system of record.

Qase for a low-cost standalone entry point

What it is. Qase is a test-management platform with Free, Teams, and Enterprise plans. Qase describes its product as bringing manual runs, automated tests, and CI results into one system of record.

Who it suits. Qase is worth considering if you want a separate QA workspace, published entry-level pricing, requirements traceability, and integrations. It is not Jira-native: use a trial to examine whether its Jira connection carries the context and permissions your workflow needs.
