Our 2026 Predictions: How AI Will Change Testing in Real Ways

Coming back from a break always creates a strange mix of energy. There’s optimism, a bit of inertia and a quiet sense that something new is starting. As we ease into 2026, one shift feels especially clear to us: AI is no longer sitting on the sidelines of software development and testing. It’s moving into the flow of real work.

If the last couple of years were about experimenting with AI tools, this year is about systems that do things. AI agents are already handling customer support, data workflows, internal operations and parts of engineering pipelines. Testing is next and not in the superficial ways we often talk about.

Here’s how we think AI will meaningfully change testing in 2026.

Testing will move from scripts to conversations

For years, testing has been defined by scripts: fragile, step-by-step instructions that assume the world stays the same. In reality, apps don’t. UI changes, flows evolve and edge cases creep in.

In 2026, we expect more teams to move toward intent-driven testing. Instead of writing detailed scripts, testers and developers will describe what they want to validate in natural language. AI systems will translate that intent into actions, adapt when layouts change and preserve the user flow, the one thing that actually matters.

This doesn’t eliminate structure. It changes where the structure lives. The intelligence moves into the system, not the person maintaining brittle test cases.

AI agents will execute full operational flows, not isolated checks

We’re already seeing AI agents perform multi-step workflows across tools and systems. Testing will follow the same path.

Rather than running isolated test cases, AI agents will:

Spin up environments
Execute end-to-end mobile flows
Observe failures in context
Collect logs, screenshots and signals
Suggest what broke and why

Testing stops being a gate at the end of a pipeline and becomes a continuous operational loop. The agent doesn’t just report failure. It understands the failure in relation to the app, the environment, and recent changes.

For mobile teams dealing with device fragmentation and real-world behavior, this kind of execution matters far more than raw test counts.

Testing systems will learn continuously, not reset every run

One of the most underappreciated changes we expect this year is memory and adaptability.

AI-driven testing systems won’t treat each execution as a fresh start. They’ll learn from:

Past failures
Production issues
Flaky behaviors
Real user interactions

Over time, this creates a feedback loop where the system gets better at predicting where things might break and how to validate them. Testing becomes less reactive and more anticipatory.

This is especially important for fast-moving mobile apps where release cycles are short and signals are noisy.

We don’t see AI replacing testers or developers. We see it removing friction from the parts of the job that slow teams down and distract from real quality thinking.

Your Apps, We Test

Each week, we put our execution engine to work on real apps.

This week, we put our execution engine to work on MyGate, the community management app used by gated societies across India. Using a natural language prompt, we asked Quash to open the app, navigate to the Marketplace, and create a new listing under the Furniture category. It selected Others as the subcategory, filled in the listing details like title, description, purchase year, price and negotiable option and then added images by selecting photos directly from the device gallery.

Before publishing, Quash validated the preview screen to ensure all entered details and images appeared correctly. Once confirmed, it published the listing, completing an end-to-end validation of MyGate’s marketplace listing flow from creation to publication.

Execution Report Improvements

v1.1.5 | January 6, 2026

This week, we shipped improvements to Execution Reports, making it easier to review, understand and share what happened during a test run.

Execution reports now include a device-level screenshot view, giving you direct visual context alongside each step. You can see exactly what the agent saw on the device while executing the flow, mapped clearly to intentions, actions, interpretations and timings.

We’ve also added support for downloadable reports, so teams can export execution details and share them outside Quash. Each downloaded report includes the execution timeline, step-by-step breakdown and supporting visuals, making it useful for reviews, audits or async collaboration.
