From AI-powered coding assistants to enhanced debugging tools, the past week has been packed with updates that promise efficiency but also raise an important question: Are developers becoming too reliant on AI?

AI’s role in software development is undeniable. It accelerates coding, reduces repetitive tasks, and enhances productivity. The latest AI models and developments are pushing the boundaries, making development faster and more accessible:

Weaker Debugging Skills - Debugging requires logical thinking, but AI-generated fixes mean fewer developers are honing this essential skill.

These tools promise efficiency gains, but unchecked reliance on them could lead to code being written faster than it’s understood. At Quash, we see the value in AI-driven development, but we also recognize the importance of maintaining human oversight and critical thinking.

How Does an AI Company Like Us Use AI Tools Internally for Our Tasks?

AI is rewriting development, and at Quash, we’re embracing its potential while staying mindful of its challenges. One such thing is vibe coding—it’s where you tell AI your software idea in plain language, like ‘I need this feature,’ and it writes the code for you. Simple, direct, and pretty handy.

Arnav Gupta tweeted about it just last week by hyping how Lovable’s vibe coding tools crushed it for a financial app, using smaller prompts to refine code. This is really cool and we’re paying attention.

Here’s how our team uses it and other AI tools:

Abrar, our AI engineer, runs with direct models—DeepSeek V3 and GPT o3 mini are his picks. He uses them to generate test cases and then verifies and refines them manually to fit real-world needs.
Dhairya sticks to Lovable. He’ll vibe code a quick “fix this function,” then checks the output against his own logic to stay on top of his game.
Hemanth loves Cursor. He debugs manually first, then vibe codes with “sort this bug out” to see what AI suggests and keeps his skills solid.
Bonus Team moves: Donna gets writing references from ChatGPT, and Grok for articles. Anindya uses Claude to brainstorm website structures and designs.

We’re big on offloading repetitive tasks to AI and always looking to upgrade our setup. It’s pushing our testing forward at Quash, but we keep human expertise in the driver’s seat. What’s your take—AI a tool for progress, or a risk of over-reliance?

AI For Life, Not Just Work

We use AI at work to automate testing, optimize workflows, and push the boundaries of software development. But outside of work? Turns out, AI plays a bigger role in our personal lives than we expected.

Our designer, Prakhar, likes to talk with ChatGPT and Claude after work but the best part is something else. He’s making a mobile game with AI, even though he doesn’t know how to code (yet!). He also throws random ideas at it to check out later.

Mahak, on the other hand, takes AI on a more existential ride. She’s using it to unravel the mysteries of the universe: philosophy, black holes, and why we’re all here. No big deal. Dhairya, meanwhile, seems to have a soft spot for Grok. If he’s ever lost in thought, chances are he’s just deep in yet another conversation with his favourite AI.

Then there’s Abrar, whose AI use is equal parts intellectual and practical. From decoding dense research papers to startup brainstorming to planning travel itineraries, AI is his go-to sidekick. Hemanth, however, keeps it grounded—tackling awkward situations with AI’s help because social cues can be complicated at times.

And when it comes to life admin, Hamza and Donna are putting AI to work. Hamza’s AI handles everything from budgeting to calorie tracking, even solving the eternal “what should I gift them?” dilemma. Donna, on the other hand, has been using AI to plan gym routines, learn cooking, and according to the team—her cooking isn’t bad. (We’ll take that as a win.)

Turns out, AI isn’t just helping us at work—it’s making life outside of it a little more fun, a little easier, and definitely more interesting.
