Bcrypt Generator

Hash passwords with bcrypt and verify passwords against existing hashes — all in your browser.

Cost 4–12. Higher is slower and stronger; 10 is the common default. Hashing runs entirely in your browser.

What is the Bcrypt Generator?

The Bcrypt Generator creates bcrypt password hashes with a configurable cost factor and verifies passwords against existing hashes. Backend developers and QA engineers use it to build auth fixtures, seed staging users, and debug login failures without touching production credentials.

How to use it

Enter a test password, pick a cost factor (4–12, default 10), and click Generate hash. Every run uses a fresh random salt, so the same password yields a different hash each time. In the Verify tab, paste a hash plus a candidate password to check whether they match.

Use cases

Auth fixtures: seed staging databases with valid bcrypt hashes for test users. Login debugging: confirm whether a failing login is a wrong password or a hashing-config mismatch. Migration QA: verify old hashes still validate after upgrading cost factors. Security testing: confirm your app rejects wrong passwords and handles malformed hashes gracefully.

Is this safe to use?

Yes for test data — everything runs locally in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. Never paste real user passwords or production hashes into any web tool. Use this for synthetic test credentials only.
